I will be rejecting some of the paid ads through Entrecard. I am by no means rejecting them all but I simply cannot go through and approve all 20 I have this morning. I am getting NO ads paid for with EC coming through. I want to let regular advertisers have their shot at getting their ad on my page without having a paid ad rotate through most of the time. What I don't get is that they say it will be paid ad 50% of the time and a regular EC ad 50% of the time. My question is if I have 20 paid ads, are they all rotating through as well? If so how does that leave 50% for anyone? I don't know. I don't get it. I am rejecting some paid ads at least until I can understand this more. I don't want most of the ads on my blog to be paid. I would like for some of these ads to be bought through just using the hard earned EC like I do. I feel like my own ads will never show up anymore. That's irritating. Until I see this whole paid ad thing kind of work out the kinks I'm going to just sort of pause with the whole paid ad approval. It might just be sitting there waiting for me to approve for the next week. I need to make sure no one is being treated unfairly (namely advertisers who aren't paying cash) before I go accepting all these paid ads.
Again, as I stated on my other blog, I do apologize to those who do not use Entrecard. I know this is confusing. I guarantee if you read many blogs this topic is huge right now.
*EDIT in reply to a commenter who said ads are automatically approved after 24 hours just sitting on my dashboard. Well I have the box checked specifically stating "Allow paid ads only if explicitly approved by you". That is under advert settings. I would think that should stop them from being automatically approved. I am just rejecting paid ads. There are entirely too many. They have taken over Entrecard as a whole. I don't see with how many paid ads that are coming through that the regular EC adverts will ever show. I'll reject until I see something change. I will approve your ad through the old fashioned EC way. And just to note, until now I have NEVER rejected an ad.
I was so frustrated yesterday with Entrecard! I approved all the paid ads before I had my coffee and then totally flipped out at the first one. It was a site about Atheism. Now I know there are a lot of Atheist out there, and no offense, but I'm not one of them and I didn't want my blog looking like it supported Atheism. I tried to find a way to take it down and couldn't. I even tweeted the CEO to see if there was a way to take it down and no dice. I'm going to be very careful screening the paid ads from now on. What a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteAfter 24 hours of sitting on your Dashboard, the "paid" ads will be approved by default.
ReplyDeleteI got very frustrated last night trying to drop cards because it seemed like every blog I went to had either that Twitter ad, the one with some lady with a bob, or the jewelry one. I saw very little blogs in the EC widgets. I thought they said 50%, too, but so far it doesn't seem that way.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, every time I log in to EC, I have another 10 or more paid ones to go through. Some I reject and they just show up again a few hours later for me to reject all over gain. Others I accept and the person puts in another request. I now have more paid listed than the other kind, and I don't particularly like the idea.
I just think there are other ways for the EC owner to earn money without resorting to this. You don't see Blog Catalog and the like resorting to paid ads that don't pay the person showing the ad. If I didn't need the traffic, I'd leave now. Maybe I just need to reject everything from now on or find some alternative.
I rejected all the paid ad's because I joined Entre card because of the way it USED to be. I agree with you 100% I like so many others sit here for hours to get credits to advertise only to have them not show up or only briefly show up because of all the paid ad's, I blog for fun and to meet new people, It is not an extra income to me and i do not intend to buy ad's Maybe someone else will create a new drop system the way Entre card used to be.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand this whole new ec thing... But I was ambushed today and yesterday with them.. Yesterday I accidentally approved some, today I reject. I just feel if I have other bloggers their my priority.
ReplyDeleteI am so confused with this new "paid ad" thing. I log on this morning and have a ton of pending ads! Then I notice most seem bogus (whether they are or not, I don't care) so I declined a bunch. I also want my regulars to be able to advertise without a bunch of "paid ads" getting on my blogs.
ReplyDeleteI agree I don't know what is going on with this whole paid ad thing. I do know that it is frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the new paid system either. I'll be doing the same until they work out the kinks.
ReplyDeleteI've got mixed feelings and still haven't decided how I will approach things. I vacillate between rejecting all paid ads, and approving a few of them.
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking I would take a wait and see approach, but given Doug's comments, I've gone in and rejected most of the paid ads.
However, there are some that are sites that I know and like, such as Doug's, so I have approved some of the ads.
I'll keep watching this closely and write up my own thoughts as I get a chance to determine them.
Meanwhile, I'm changing the way that I surf, to focus more on people that have dropped cards on me and less on the advertisements.
It seems as if EntreCard's new approach makes advertisements much less valuable and it will most likely end up hurting them if they don't change.
With that, my traffic coming from Adgitize Ads have now exceeded my EntreCard advertising driven traffic.
I'm so confused by this new system and it really takes the fun out of it with all of the paid ads taking over. It feels kind of hollow now.
ReplyDeletei was unaware about this at first and got to approved all paid ads.i didnt noticed it was paid ads.it was later on that i've learned it's paid ads. after couple of hours, again i have so many paid ads that's still waiting for my approval.but i am still thinking about it. it seems that regular ads will barely get shown now because of paid ads.and that's disappointing.how about the consistent droppers and regular advertisers that are patiently dropping ec to earn.
ReplyDeletemaybe for now i will just approve paid ads once in awhile.my priority is still the regular advertisers and fellow bloggers using ec for advertising.
Same here! I don't like those paid blogs on my sites. There are even tons of them leaving no space for regular EC advertisers.
ReplyDeleteSandi - I'm with you, I'm only approving regular EC ads, no paid ones. I check my dashboard several times a day so I have no trouble making sure that anyone who is kind enough to advertise will get a full 24 hours...
ReplyDeleteNow if things settle down and let's say there were some history-type commercial sites' ads, like History Channel or something (and really, I doubt that EC will have that sort of ad) that might be OK, occasionally.
But as far as I can see, as long as I stick with EC I am going to go on as I always have...
other bloggers are complaining about this because some paid ads are displayed on their blogs without their approval.
